The Story So Far... (Part 1)

As it stands Liverpool sit in 14th place in Premier League table with 7 points (2W, 1D, 3L) after the first 6 games. Things actually started very well for Liverpool claiming an opening day win against Southampton (2-1) and then recovering to a 3-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad to smashing Tottenham 0-3 at White Hart Lane. But then after the international break and the lose of Daniel Sturridge they slumped to two straight defeats to Aston Villa (0-1) at Anfield and West Ham (3-1) at Upton Park. Which from a team that missed out on the league title by two points last year, is simply appalling to be beaten consecutively by two teams that didn't even finish in the top 10 last season.
Derby Day was set to be the day that Liverpool but their terrible league form behind them and start off an considerably easy run off games with a win at Anfield. Nobody can come up with a good explanation to why Liverpool didn't leave with all three points, some would say that Jagielka's first time screamer from the edge of the box to make it 1-1 in added time was lucky and it just wasn't meant to be. How embarrasing of an excuse is that?
  • 15 shots with a total of 8 on target
  • 8 corners
  • 18 crosses
  • 8 free-kicks
The stats from what was in all fairness a dominant display from the reds, but when you have the talent that we do and the amount of money invested into a team like we do; you expect at least 3 of them 8 shots on target to go in. You can't say they never had the chances. You especially can't blame the Jagielka goal for the lack of creativity or killer instinct to score from open play.
