Real Madrid - Reaction

Not even the most deluded of fans could have predicted anything different, being absolutely destroyed by the hands of the champions in front of our own fans, on our own soil. Ronaldo's goal was nothing but Ronaldo, no defender in the world or goalkeeper could have stopped that from going in. The way that he hit it so sweetly in his stride it was poetry in motion.

But the same song was to be sung as both of Benzema's goals could have easily been prevented. The first one was just Johnson being Johnson. Yes, the header was excellent with the dip of the ball beating Mignolet completely (but then again who doesn't) but that masked the fact that Johnson completely lost his man when all he had to do was just to keep the pressure on him. The second goal was just down to Liverpool's Achilles heel. Set pieces. It was an absolute scramble in the box until Benzema put the ball past Mignolet and into the net to make it 3-0 and it wasn't even half time yet.

The first 20 minutes was surprisingly dominant from our point of view we had more of the ball, created a few chances, and kept Ronaldo and co quiet. But the inability to create an end product resulted in the piece of magic from Ronaldo and James to put Real up 1-0. And it all just went downhill from there. Balotelli's half time shirt swap is not going to go down well with the Liverpool fans, if Sakho and Coutinho never got away with it last season then Balotelli certainly isn't going to this season.

Balotelli has had another shocker, and it is starting to become abundantly clear that this purchase was not a wise one by Rodgers. Still with the only one goal, he is just not looking like the striker he could potentially be. I don't understand whats going on, Rodgers is banging on about how hard he works in training, he halfed his wages to come here; yet he doesn't try in the games. His entire game is picking the ball up on the edge of the box and shooting and it never goes in, tonight might have been the last straw in terms of him being a definite starter as he has failed to produce when we needed him most.

So now we are joint on points with Ludogorets and Basel with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu our next game. If I was Rodgers I would just defend the entire game maybe try and counter attack them and try and get a point. It is a negative approach but in my opinion, it is the only one that will keep us from being annihilated again. I don't think it is as bad as everyone says it is going to be Ludogorets away is going to be hard and so is Basel at home but they are both winnable. We just need to hope that when they play again it ends in a draw.
